Coming up for air

Finally. It only took me until Wednesday!  read more »

'Cross Vegas

Well, it wasn't terrible. I spent the morning rebuilding my road bike in the hotel room, and the stress and hassle and discomfort of crashing on Sunday and everything that followed was definitely still with me. I felt good riding easy, but painfully blocked going hard, so I just tried to relax and have a steady ride.  read more »

Hurry! Before it's too late!

I think my life is finally slow enough, for the first time in about 6 weeks, that I might be able to do a real blog entry. It's really too bad; so many notable things have happened since the start of August that would have merited entire entries unto themselves. I'm going to try to boil it all down to one post to get caught up. My life since August 1: - Lost the USA Crits leader's jersey in Charlotte. Lots of bad luck and bad choices in the last lap. - Got 6th at Haynes Park the next day, with a nice field sprint. Wish I could have done the same the day before. - Started a full week off the bike, sacrificing good form at Crit Nats for good form in September at San Francisco, DC, 'Cross Vegas, USA Crit Finals, and the start of the 'cross season. - Got more work done on the dinosaur sleeve in Athens while I was on my week off. - Got home and started the long, slow process of moving in with Janice in Portland. - Won the Salem Witches Cup:

This is a picture of a sprint in Elk Grove for a $2000 prime:

There are 5 people watching.

Hey Elk Grove, how about you spend some of that $200,000 prize list on advertising your race to the local community so someone actually shows up to watch? Not conflicting with Charlotte might help you get more than 50 riders to show up, too.

Who blogs on fridays, anyway?

It takes me all week to get caught up enough on my life to reflect on it. So Friday it is, even though no one's left at their computers to read it before the weekend.

First, Chris Mayhew had a question about the actually CTL numbers from Molly's PMC in a previous post. I inadvertently cut the right hand values out of the screen shot. So here's the updated pic with the actual values:  read more »

Gastown, Burnaby, Boise

How come whenever I get a good result lately, you have to go digging for the results? It's like there's a plot against me.

Finally found results for the second day at Louisville.

Monday we flew to Seattle, and then had a nice day Tuesday riding around the city a bit and checking things out, as well as doing a cool opening up workout around Mercer Island with our host Chris Daifuku from the Hagen-Berman team.  read more »

Two wins in two weeks!

As I’ve said here before, sometimes you’re too busy living life to stop and reflect on it, which is too bad; that’s often when the most exciting or interesting things are happening. Last week I managed to finally win my first race of the season, move into 3rd place overall in the USA Crit Series, pick up another NRC top 10 result, and then win another race the next day! Since I’m trapped on a plane for a few hours, it’s time for a recap.

I like to watch

Yeah, that's me back there, first guy on the Colavita train, with one lap to go at Austin. It would be sweet if instead of watching the sprint and getting 5-10 all the time, I actually got something done. I should be psyched about top 10, but all I can really think about is all the things that go wrong on the last lap sometimes.  read more »
