Beer Log

At the end of my first week of the off-season, here's the tally:

Gouden Carolus Noel (draught)

St. Bernardus Christmas (draught)

De Ranke Pere Noel (draught)

Allagash White (bottle)

Allagash Curieux (bottle)

Scaldis Noel (draught)

Delirium Noel (draught)

Ommegang Three Philosophers (bottle)

Unibroue Maudite (bottle)

Novare Res has a LOT of Christmas beers on tap right now. Today's my last day in Portland until April, so I had to take advantage of it.

Whoa!

Sometimes I forget:

Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA

20% ABV! And apparently with aging it can go up to 23%. Thank god Janice and I only bought a single 12 oz bottle and we're splitting it.

Greetz van Vlaanderen!

This might be a massive entry, since I have a lot to catch up on, and a lot of pictures to post. I could break it up, I suppose, but you can just decide how much you want to read. I'll start with today and work backwards. Or rather, I'll start with tomorrow and work backwards, since tomorrow is my first race.  read more »

I guess it's really happening

I have avoided talking about this publicly, for the most part, because I've been in denial for a while that I'm actually going and that this trip was going to come off. But I guess it's official; I leave for Europe on Monday. I'll be racing in Belgium, Holland, and the Czech Republic, and combining the trip with some meetings as well.

Here are the details:

October 11-12, Gloucester, MA
October 13, Fly from Boston to Brussels, stay with Sten Raeymakers in Lille, Belgium
October 16, Kermiscross Ardooie, BEL
October 18, AIOC-Cross Meeting, Brasschaat, BEL
October 19, World Cup, Kalmthout, BEL  read more »

Beer log

No sooner do I start the beer log then I decide to cut my beer consumption down to 1 beer per week. Seriously. It's cyclo-cross season, I've trained really hard, I have some big goals, and it's just dumb to weigh 5 more pounds than I need to because I'm drinking a beer every night. So now, it'll be special. I mean, I even have a Westvleteren just sitting in my fridge in Boston waiting for me to drink. It's going to have to wait.  read more »

Beer log

Seriously, more later, but in the meantime:

Last night:

Ommegeddon

Tonight:

Dogfish Head Black and Blue

I noticed one of the rider signed up for 'cross camp this weekend rides for the Ommegang sponsored club in New York. Please God, let him bring beer.
