The Verge New England Championship Cyclo-Cross Series is joining forces with the Northampton Cycling Club and their youth development team, by creating a bike donation program to be implemented at Series events.
NCC’s David Goodwin has been running a Junior cyclo-cross training program for the past three years that has now grown to an enrollment of about 40 kids. Some of these juniors have made the leap into competitive racing, but others can not afford decent equipment. NCC’s vision is to offer juniors an avenue to racing where all equipment needs can be met at little cost to the families.
Cycle-Smart will be helping NCC collect donated bikes and equipment at several of the Verge Series races this year. All donations will support the youth development team, and all are 100% tax deductible because NCC is a 501c3.
The NCC is looking for bikes, wheels, parts, tires, frames, shoes, road/’cross/TT/mtn – everything usable. Smaller frame sizes are great, but all sizes are welcome.
If you would like to make an equipment donation, look for the NCC banner or tent near registration or in the expo area at each event. An NCC representative will be on hand to bring donations back to Northampton. The club rep will also have tax donation letters you can pick up and fill in yourself. The tax donation letters will be out and available, and it will be ok to leave items if the area is temporarily unstaffed.
