A career, by the numbers

Since I'm done racing for the year, I went to update my resume, and realized I hadn't touched it since last July, despite my team director asking me for it all fall. Whoops. So I just went through and updated it, thanks to some help from usacycling.org, (believe it or not) and velobios.com.

I've been at this a while. It's interesting to occasionally take a step back and look at 20+ years of results and get a sense for it. Did you know I won the senior race at Marblehead when I was still a junior, and then again the next year as first-year senior? Or that I won the Boston Beanpot crit 5 times? I can't tell if that's success, or proof that I never made it past a certain level, but I'm proud of it, either way. It can bum me out a little when I look at my results from when I was an under-23, since there was no such thing as U23 at the time. No U23 'cross Worlds or national team for me. I had 5 wins when I was 21, including the points jersey at Altoona and the GS Mengoni GP. I won an NRC road race when I was 23, and my first New England 'Cross Series race.

Can someone tell me WTF happened in the '90's? Was it the economy? Was it doping? Was it all the Euro-based dudes coming back to the US and taking up spots on US teams for the last few years of their careers? Was it me? I dunno, but for some reason it took me until my 30's to finally get started on the career I thought I was on track to have in my early 20's.

I still have my training diaries from when I was a junior. I should pull those out and take a look, too.
