Ghost stories
For those of you who remember, I just got a huge wave of nostalgia for Turtles and Metals.
Amidst the misery of the '80's, there was a lot of joy at those spots. Watching Ram flip a 36-inch skateboard like it was 2/3rd the size over the banks at Turtles is still, in my mind, the defining aspect of that period. Although, there's a picture of Fred Smith stand-up grinding the lip of the C-Pool that always blew me away, too. I only ever got to skate that once, since it was always full of water when we'd show up. I need to find that photo.
The bricks at Government Center, and Boston City Hospital, the C-Pool, Metals, Turtles, the drainage ditch that Pete Verdone took me to one time; Boston used to be an amazing city to skate. All those spots are either gone, closed, or policed now.
Anyway, I gotta get back to work. Enjoy the video. If you're reading this on my Facebook feed, click through so you can watch it. That's 3 feet of vert, with a 2-inch lip before the vert starts that you have to click past. Deadly.
