WWTD?

Read Twisty today. I've thought many, many times that the only way I was going to be able to make peace with the world was to drop out of it. Twisty has moved in that direction, moving from Austin to the surrounding hilltowns. But perhaps there's another way, she says:

"You know that thing you really enjoy doing? The thing that gives you the illusion that your life has meaning? With me, it’s sitting around looking at bugs with their butts stuck together. With you, it’s probably weaving god’s eyes out of rainbow yarn or something. Well, whatever it is, do it all the time, and with a sort of vengeance."

I bike race for money, for health, sometimes for fun. But I definitely do it for reasons much, much more important than any of those I just listed.

she left out pathological. from pathos. pathos being the hook in that song, the thing you can't help turning your head for, or focusing in on. I read this great quote on a magnet on a friend's fridge a month back or so. . .I've been scouring google for it with no damn luck so I can only paraphrase. the quote basically follows through on the logical end, the answer, one often finds oneself holding at the end of a phase of earnestly examining one's life (ie. asking yourself the big questions, building a case for your ethic, etc). and that is, if you stay focused on and humbled by the experiences that draw you in, you will wind up not only knowing the answer, your answer, but in fact living the answer. so yeah, live the answer. Kierkegaard is my favorite. definitely. "the personality is already interested in the choice before one chooses, when at last the choice is made, one discovers…that there is something which must be done over again, something which must be revoked."
