Touch Me I'm Sick
Turns, out, I didn't have food poisoning. I only thought I did. I got a good tip off today, and it turns out I most definitely had Norovirus, or a stomach flu.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norovirus
The disease is usually self-limiting, and characterised by nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain; and in some cases, loss of taste. General lethargy, weakness, muscle aches, headache, and low-grade fever may occur. Symptoms may persist for several days and may become life-threatening in the young, the elderly, and the immune-compromised if dehydration is ignored or not treated. When a person becomes infected with norovirus, the virus begins to multiply within the small intestine. After approximately 1 to 2 days, norovirus symptoms can appear.
Check!
Norovirus causes acute gastroenteritis that develops between 24 and 48 hours after exposure with a median of 33–36 hours, and lasts for 24–60 hours.
Check!
Norovirus is extremely infectious, and without special precautions, each person with gastroenteritis will infect on average an additional 14 people.
Check! A friend had identical symptoms and sent me the info. And then the housemate of the person I'm saying with in Athens said "oh, I had food poisoning the day before you got here but I'm _sure_ it was food poisoning!" Yeah, I was sure I had food poisoning, too.
Ruh roh to my teammates on their way to Joe Martin right now, and anyone I might have made out with last week. Gut flu. Better than pig flu, I guess.
Thanks to Pete Rumsey for the 1000 mile diagnosis.
