Battenkill Tire Choices?
Submitted by Adam Myerson on Mon, 04/13/2009 - 14:54.
This is my first Battenkill. But apparently a thousand or so of you have been doing it every year for the past couple of years. So here's your chance to share your knowledge and offer me and our other readers some advice.
I've been told a few different things about the course and its dirt sections. Some have said normal wheels and tires. Some have suggested wider tires, maybe 25 mm. Some have said just make sure your tires are fresh.
So if you've done Battenkill, what's your take? Do you do anything special? And if you were doing 200k and two laps of the course, does that change what you'd do for equipment? Do I need top-mount levers and a Paris-Roubaix bike, or just my normal gear?

You always need top mount levers!
I don't think you'll need top mount levers, but i'd recommend a lower gear, as some of the climbs are steep and short. Fresh tires and atleast 23mm size, normal wheels. Its a great course.
Btw-my name is LEECH, not leach. get it right.

i think you could read that and make a very informed choice on your own without peanut gallery comments...
