Frattini, Dickey Win Chainbiter 8.0

 Round three of the 2006 Verge New England Championship Cyclo-Cross Series proved a race for the strong, with the Chainbiter 8.0 in Farmington, Conn. going to Davide Frattini (Colavita-Sutter Home) and Mackenzie Dickey (unattached) in the Elite Men’s and Women’s events, respectively. Frattini snuck off the front of the 40-rider Elite Men’s field and held off a late-race surge by Mark McCormack (Clif Bar), who won the sprint for second out a three-rider chase. Always one of the fastest starters on the circuit, Dickey produced a strong race for the duration.
 Dickey won her second-ever Verge NECCS race ahead of Amy Wallace (RGM Watches-Richard Sachs-Rex Chiu) with a once again healthy Rebecca Wellons (Gearworks-Spin Arts) rounding out the podium. Matt White (FiordiFrutta) grabbed third in the Elite Men’s race.
Northampton, Mass. Hosts round four of the Verge NECCS tomorrow, Sunday, November 5, at the 16th Annual Cycle-Smart International.
